The Cherry Blossom Orchestra came together in 2016 to celebrate Louis Armstrong in a special concert. As a result of the excitement of the performance, the group became an established name for dancers and listeners alike. Within 12 months, an impressive event list included opening the Portland Lindy Exchange, debuting at the State Capitol, playing the Front Porch Stage at the gigantic Waterfront Blues Festival, and taking the coast by storm at Lincoln City Cultural Centre. The band ultimately aims to reproduce the experience of hearing the greatest bands of the 1920s, particularly the sound of the great Fletcher Henderson Orchestra of that time, and the King Oliver Orchestra of 1929-30.
