Thank you for your interest in taking Swing 171, the lesson series designed to take the enthusiastic student from beginner (with a little bit of experience) to journeyman swing dancer, while having the most fun possible.

Prerequisites
1. Watch this video!
This is the style of dance you'll be learning. It's called swing.
2. Attend three social dances!
This is a class for people with some social dancing experience, love it, and want to get into swing dancing, known as Lindy hop.
The swing community puts a lot of passion, effort and time into making this the best class you’ve ever taken. If you are excited to dance, this class is for you!
Note: To put a number on it, this class is for people who have attended at least three social dances in Corvallis. If you’ve been to two, and you know us in person, come talk with us. If you’ve been to one or less, you can take the class after dancing a bit more.
We’ve found that people who don’t satisfy these prerequisites tend to drop out by week 5, but people who do have a lot of fun for all 10 weeks.
3. Be ready to dance!
This class includes:
- Ten, 2-hour lessons on Mondays.
- Six dances, on Fridays or Saturdays.
The schedule is as follows:
- Lessons: January 7 - March 11 (Mondays)
- Dances: Jan 11, Feb 1, Feb 16, Feb 22, Mar 8, Mar 16
- Each lesson will be 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
- The venue is Odd Fellows Hall, 223 SW 2nd St., Corvallis.
Note: We cover a lot, and have a lot of fun, in every class. If you think you’re going to miss any of the first 5 lessons, please talk with us before registering.
4. Get ready to meet people!
Half of this lesson series is about being introduced to the community of swing dancers, and the fantastic, underground world of social jazz and blues. Outside of Corvallis, there are thriving scenes in Portland, Seattle, Vancouver B.C., and cities throughout. We will prepare you for swing dancing anywhere.

Total cost is $100, with $20 up front during registration, and the rest when you can. For your convenience, we have a Paypal thing set up below.
