Dance Saturday. Summer events.

Our final dance of the spring season is this Saturday, June 4. Local band, Swing & A Different Ms., featuring vocalist Leigh Ann Starcevich, will play two hours of live swing music.

Instructors Rian Pfund and Emma Ehret will teach the beginning swing lesson this month. DJ Eileen Tokuda will provide music during the band breaks and Phil Manijak will close out the night.

Evening schedule

We’ll be at Odd Fellows Hall, 223 SW 2nd St., and cover for the evening is $10.

Dance and Workshops Saturday. Live music May 20.

This Saturday, May 14, we have a series of beginning workshops as well as our monthly dance at Odd Fellows Hall.

Designed with a beginner in mind, the workshops will cover the fundamentals of swing dance, including 6 count swing, Charleston, and some 8 count Lindy hop.

The workshops run from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the cost is $30. Registration is availabe at lindyhoppers.co.

Downtown Swing Dance

Nika and Mateo of Track Town Swing Club will be teaching their last lesson in Corvallis for quite a while as they’re graduating in June. Corvallis Swing DJs, Sophie, Zach, and Rian, will be keeping the music going for the next three hours.

Workshops and Dance Downtown Saturday.

Our biggest event of the spring is happening this Saturday, April 9. Joel Hunter and Stephanie Hinton, of Boise, Idaho, are traveling to Corvallis to teach, DJ, and dance with us.

Joel and Stephanie will be teaching four workshops on a variety of styles of swing dancing, including Charleston, Lindy hop, and 6-count patterns. The workshops run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Odd Fellows Hall. For a detailed schedule, visit: corvallisswing.com

Reservations for the weekend are available at rsvp.corvallisswing.com. A full pass includes admission to the workshops on Saturday and social dance Saturday evening. The cost is $40 in advance and $50 the day of the event. A la carte pricing is $12 per workshop.

Jacob Miller and the Bridge City Crooners, one of the finest swing bands on the West Coast, will be playing at our downtown swing dance. They will be joined by DJ and instructor Rachael Ries of Portland.

It’s the middle of the winter season and we’ve got two OSU swing dances this month.

This Friday, February 12 at 8 p.m., Lindsey and Ellen will be teaching a lesson on 8-count swing. Corvallis swing DJs Sophie, Laurel, and Eileen will keep the music going with their favorite songs from 9 – 11 p.m.

We’ll be at the OSU Women’s Building, in room 116, and cover for the evening is $5.

Among the finest young roots-oriented acts on the west coast, Jacob Miller and the Bridge City Crooners have taken the hot jazz of the 20’s & 30’s and combined it with country blues, western swing, and ragtime styles to create an irresistible sound that satisfies dancers and listeners alike.

The beginner Charleston lesson will be taught by Rachael Ries and Gene Yoo of Portland. Rachael will also DJ during the band breaks.

Dance Friday. 6th Anniversary Celebration.

Our first dance of the winter season is this Friday, January 15 at OSU. It’s got all of our Friday swing staples: snacks, sweet tunes, solo jamming, and the steal circle.

6th Anniversary Celebration

On Saturday, January 23, we’re celebrating the community we’ve built over the last six years. Join us for an evening of dancing, cake, and memories, old and new.

Our friends, Nika Jin and Mateo Palfreman of Track Town Swing Club, will be teaching the beginning swing lesson. Mateo and Corvallis Swing co-founder, Phil Manijak, will keep the music going for the next three hours.

After 5 years, the era of swing and blues is coming to a close.

Please join us this Friday, December 4, for our final swing and blues fusion dance at OSU. Our favorite DJs are coming together to blend the genres of swing and blues music. We’ve got the dynamic Rian Pfund and Lindsey Almarode teaching the lesson.

Dance Friday. Swing & Tango Weekend Next Week.

Registration open for Swing & Tango Weekend

It’s less than two weeks until our biggest event of the fall, Corvallis Swing & Tango Weekend.

On Friday, November 13, instructor Noah Brenner and DJ Kella Hanna-Wayne are traveling from Eugene to bring Argentine tango to Corvallis. The evening features two workshops followed by a dance.

Saturday is all about about swing: fast, hot, and slow. National dance champions, Josh and Emily, will cover fast with two balboa workshops. Rising stars, Nika and Mateo, will be teaching Lindy hop. Our own Kelley Hungerford will finish of the afternoon with slow Lindy. The weekend will conclude with a special swing and blues dance, DJ’d by workshop instructors and Mr. Rian Pfund.

Weekend passes are available at swingandtango.org for $40-50, sliding scale. All proceeds go to the instructors.

Swing & Tango Weekend

We're excited to announce Corvallis' first ever Swing & Tango Weekend on November 13-14, with seven workshops and two nights of dancing.

Friday is Argentine tango night, with two beginning workshops taught by Noah Brenner and an hour of dancing.

Saturday's workshops encompass Lindy hop, balboa, and blues. National dance champions, Josh and Emily, are returning to teach the balboa workshops. In the evening, there's a swing and blues dance, with guest DJs and instructors.

A weekend pass costs $40-50, sliding scale, and includes admission to all workshops and dances.

After a quiet summer, we’re excited to start dancing again.

Beginning swing lessons for everyone

Swing 106 is an additive beginner swing lesson series. A variety of 6 and 8 count swing movements are taught along with the fundamental concepts of connection, frame, pulse, momentum, and musicality.

Each lesson includes a warm-up activity, new movements, music, and fun.

Lessons are every other Friday starting October 9, from 8 – 9 p.m. in Women’s Building, room 116.
