Dance in Independence Saturday. Picnic upcoming.

This Saturday, August 20, we’re traveling to Independence, Oregon to host our first ever out-of-town swing dance. Help us share the culture of swing dancing with the fine folks of this town.

Evening schedule

  • 6:20 p.m.: Carpool leaves from Corvallis
  • 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.: Beginner Charleston lesson with Kelley Hungerford and Lindsey Almarode
  • 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.: Dancing to swing music DJed by Zach, Dakota, and Eileen

We’ll be at Maxine’s Ballroom, 120 C St., Independence. Cover for the evening is $5.

Swing Family Picnic

Join us on Thursday, September 1 for our fourth annual Swing Family Picnic. We’re celebrating our dance community with a potluck, games, dancing, and live music from Breakers Yard.

The festivities begin at 6 p.m. at the Starker Arts Park amphitheater in southwest Corvallis. There is no cover for the evening, but tipping the band is highly encouraged.

We’ll provide fixings for burgers (meat and vegetarian). Please bring a potluck dish to share.

Free Dance in the Park Thursday.

This Thursday, July 21, we’re hosting a free swing dance in Central Park during the Corvallis Arts Walk.

There will be a thirty minute introductory swing lesson, followed by two hours of swing dancing.

  • 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.: Dancing to swing music DJed by Sophie, Eileen and Dakota

Our final dance of the spring season is this Saturday, June 4. Local band, Swing & A Different Ms., featuring vocalist Leigh Ann Starcevich, will play two hours of live swing music.

Instructors Rian Pfund and Emma Ehret will teach the beginning swing lesson this month. DJ Eileen Tokuda will provide music during the band breaks and Phil Manijak will close out the night.

Dance and Workshops Saturday. Live music May 20.

This Saturday, May 14, we have a series of beginning workshops as well as our monthly dance at Odd Fellows Hall.

Designed with a beginner in mind, the workshops will cover the fundamentals of swing dance, including 6 count swing, Charleston, and some 8 count Lindy hop.

The workshops run from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the cost is $30. Registration is availabe at lindyhoppers.co.

Downtown Swing Dance

Nika and Mateo of Track Town Swing Club will be teaching their last lesson in Corvallis for quite a while as they’re graduating in June. Corvallis Swing DJs, Sophie, Zach, and Rian, will be keeping the music going for the next three hours.

Workshops and Dance Downtown Saturday.

Our biggest event of the spring is happening this Saturday, April 9. Joel Hunter and Stephanie Hinton, of Boise, Idaho, are traveling to Corvallis to teach, DJ, and dance with us.

Joel and Stephanie will be teaching four workshops on a variety of styles of swing dancing, including Charleston, Lindy hop, and 6-count patterns. The workshops run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Odd Fellows Hall. For a detailed schedule, visit: corvallisswing.com

Reservations for the weekend are available at rsvp.corvallisswing.com. A full pass includes admission to the workshops on Saturday and social dance Saturday evening. The cost is $40 in advance and $50 the day of the event. A la carte pricing is $12 per workshop.

Live music this Saturday.

Join us this Saturday, March 5 for our most outstanding live music event of the year.

Jacob Miller and the Bridge City Crooners, one of the finest swing bands on the West Coast, will be playing at our downtown swing dance. They will be joined by DJ and instructor Rachael Ries of Portland.
